It seems like just yesterday when Mayor John Jenkins first took office. He started out by having a district-by-district meeting with the citizens of this great city of Auburn. He and the council made us feel like we mattered. He made us proud when he went to Washington for President Obama’s inauguration.

The City Council meetings were always done aboveboard — no back stabbing. I, being too lazy to attend all meetings, watched on TV.

I think it’s a great idea to hold the swearing in at City Hall. After all, it’s the people’s City Hall. I hope it’s wall-to-wall with citizens on Dec. 7 to say thanks to our mayor and City Council members, and to greet our new mayor and wish him well.
