Eugene L. Dunlap
1930 – 2009

LEWISTON — Eugene L. Dunlap, 79, of Sabattus, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 28, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Bangor, Aug. 23, 1930, the son of the late Ledyard M. and Helen M. Oakes Dunlap. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 23 years, having served a tour of duty in Vietnam and upon his return was employed for 28 years at St. Mary’s Hospital, retiring in 1997 as supervisor of maintenance.

Gene was married May 23, 1992 in Lewiston to Catherine A. Hobbs. He enjoyed bowling and leather working. In his earlier years, he coached youth bowling leagues for many years. He was a member of the American Legion in Bangor.

He leaves his loving wife, Cathy Dunlap of Sabattus; his children, Peggy Dunlap of Waterboro, Deborah Fogg and husband, Jon, of North Berwick, James and Carla (Bergner) Conner of Sabattus, Tammy Bergner of Lewiston and Michael and Pam Bergner of South Portland; also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; a brother, Ledyard Martin Dunlap Jr.; and a sister, Shelia Mae Dunlap.
