NORWAY — On Sunday, Dec. 6, local musicians Mary Christine (Ukelady) of Sumner, Bob Wallace of Harrison and Rusty Wiltjer of Waterford will present a family concert at the Fare Share Commons Gallery.
The 2 p.m. concert will benefit Beth’s House Committee, a group of local
advocates raising money to build a house for 24-year-old Beth Coffin
of West Paris, who struggles with spinal muscular atrophy and whose
parents suffer from chronic Lyme Disease. Their home is becoming unsafe;
and with winter on the way, the community is pulling together to
raise money to help.
The trio will offer an hour of heartfelt originals, Maine ballads, sea shanties and sing-alongs. Ukelady, a retired dental hygienist and co-host of NPC-TV’s Mainely Acoustic show, is known for her warm vocals, fun-loving melodies and folksy tunes on acoustic guitar, ukulele and piano.
Wallace, a Maine Maritime Acadamy alumnus and seafaring troubadour, plays bass and acoustic guitar, performing ballads of country and the coast. Wiltjer, a percussionist and artist of fine pottery and custom-made clay drums, pulls the group together with high-spirited rhythms.
This show will be the first of a Gift of Love concert series to be presented by Ukelady and guests. Suggested donation is $5 per person; toddlers are free. Refreshments will be available. Donations may also be sent to Norway Savings Bank, 356 Main St. Norway, ME. 04268, and checks made out to Beth’s House.
