PORTLAND — In his high-energy routines, popular stand-up comic Bob Marley, a University of Maine at Farmington graduate, jokes about growing up in Maine, his children, marriage and living in Los Angeles.
He will cover those topics, and more, at performances of the 10th Holiday Show at Merrill Auditorium on Dec. 26, 27, 30 and 31.
Celebrating 15 years as a stand-up comedian, Marley is one of the most sought-after comedians in the country. He recently reprised his role as Detective Greenly in the film “All Saints Day,” which opens Friday, Dec. 4, at the Saco and Westbrook Cinemagic theaters.
In addition, he recently hosted a live limited-run series on Sirius XM’s Raw Dog Comedy Channel called “Bob Marley’s Wicked Awesome Show.”
Marley has been featured in his own half-hour special on Comedy Central and has appeared on the late-night TV circuit, including “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, “Late Night” with Conan O’Brien” and “The Late Late Show” with Craig Ferguson and Craig Kilborn.
He began his career in his hometown of Portland, and then moved to Boston. A regular at the Aspen and Montreal comedy festivals, he was named one of Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch. He has also appeared in several films, including the 1999 cult favorite “Boondock Saints.”
Marley’s new CD/DVD, “Drop it haahd,” will be released later this month. It’s Marley’s 18th CD and fifth DVD.
Shows will be at 6:30 and 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26; at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27; at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30; and at 6:30 and 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31. Tickets for all shows are $39.
