LISBON — A Sabattus driver was injured Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his car on Route 9 and slammed into a tree stump.
Dominic Gomes, 19, of 643 Middle Road, complained of chest pain due to the impact of the crash and was transported by Lisbon Emergency to Central Maine Medical Center.
According to investigating officer Jeff Picard, Gomes was traveling south toward Lisbon Falls when his car veered to the right and struck the large stump. Because there was smoke coming from under the engine compartment, both Lisbon Falls Fire Department and E.T. Smith Hose Co. responded to the scene, Picard said, however no flames erupted.
Picard estimated the damage to Gomes 2003 Volkswagen Jetta at $4,500 in the 3:21 p.m. crash. No charges were filed.
