Yvette E. Cote
1930 – 2009
RUMFORD — Yvette E. Cote, 79, a former resident of Eaton Hill Road, Rumford died Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Rumford Community Home, where she had been a resident for the past seven years.
She was born September 4, 1930, in Rumford, the daughter of Phillip and Eva Grenier.
She married Gerald J. Cote on July 2, 1949. The soon moved to Eaton Hill Road and had eight children. As he worked in the mill, she took care of her children. When the kids were young, she enjoyed knitting mittens and sweaters. He and she had a camp at Worthley Pond for 17 years, where Yahtzee with the ladies was the excitement of the day. In later years, she was quite the bowler in Florida, staying warm in the heat.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gerald J. Cote; their children, Gerald J. Cote Jr. and wife, Jennie, of Barrington, N.H., Connie M. Shurtleff of South Paris, Robert A. Cote and his companion, Jackie Brown, of Rumford, Daniel R. Cote and wife, Robin, of Mulvane, Kan., Carol A Pingree of Mexico, Richard J. Cote and wife, Tammy, of Rumford and Cynthia M. Wardwell and companion, Carl Witas of Canton; two brothers, Daniel Grenier and wife, Carol, of Rumford and Louis Grenier and wife, Sue, of Saco; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her son, David Cote.
The family would like to thank Rumford Community Home for the wonderful care Yvette received.
