Girls’ Basketball
Coach: Kathy Saarinen (first year)
Last year’s record: 17-3, lost in Western D semifinal.
Returning letter winners: Senior – Ashlee Hamann (5-4 guard); Juniors – Samantha Jones (5-8 guard/forward), Alicia Patrie (5-4 forward), Ally Martin (5-5 forward), Sarah Colby (5-2 guard); Sophomore -Kaitlyn Rines (5-10 forward)
Key losses: Lindsay Henderson (forward), Abby Jones (forward), Tristen Newton (forward), Emily Eastman (guard), Carly Carlile (forward).
Promising newcomers: Sophomores – Abby Bragg (5-5 guard), Danielle Patrie (5-6 guard/forward); Freshmen – Dakota Warren (5-6 forward/guard), Elizabeth Strout (5-4 guard), Jessica Cooper (5-7 forward), Autumn Hackett (5-8 forward).
Outlook: The Bucks lost five veterans, four starters,  from last year’s team and are much younger as a result. Hamann is the most experienced starter but missed half of last year with a knee injury.  The other upperclassmen saw minutes at the varsity level but will take on larger roles this year. The Bucks won’t be as dominant as they have the last two years but hope to be competitive, improve and challenge for a tourney berth.
Coach’s comment: “We’re a building team. I hope to see us in the playoffs. Most of them are very inexperienced, but the girls have more heart than I can ask for.”
