Boys’ Basketball
Coach: Brian Kelly (first year)
Last year’s record: 8-10
Returning letter winners: Seniors -Austin Clark (6-3 center), Jordan DeMillo (6-0 forward); Junior – Kyle Storer (6-2 forward); Sophomore – Zach Bonnevie (5-11 guard).
Key losses: Dylan Stefani (center), Miles Hutchinson (guard), Kyle DeMillo (forward), Zach Lacroix (center), Devin Rose (guard), Bryan Brennick (guard), Dave Farrington (forward).
Promising newcomers: Juniors – Jake Lord (5-9 guard), Jordan P. Couture (5-10 guard); Sophomores – Jacob Bessey (5-10 guard), James Barker (6-0, forward), Billy Calden (5-9 guard), Nate Shink (6-0 forward), Tyler Gervais (5-8 guard), Kyle Ainsley (6-1 forward).
Outlook: Kelly moves up from the JV ranks to take over a team revitalized by the return of a player he never got to coach in the junior varsity. Clark was the Tigers’ leading scorer and rebounder his freshman and sophomore years, then moved out of state before last season. He will be one of the top players in the MVC. With Storer and DeMillo also in the mix, they have as much athleticism, experience and size in the frontcourt as anyone in the conference. They did lose a lot in the backcourt, however, with Bonnevie the only experienced guard on the squad..
Coach’s comment: “How well these players can adjust to the varsity level will be a key ingredient to how far we can go this season.” – Coach Brian Kelly
