Girls’ Basketball
Coach: Mark Simpson (first year, fifth overall)
Last year’s record: 9-10, lost in Western C preliminary
Returning letter winners:  Seniors – Hannah Therrien (5-8 forward), Kathrynn Lake (5-5 guard); Juniors – Marissa Welch (5-11 center), Annika Durrell (5-7 guard/forward); Sophomore – Kathrynn Ventrella (5-7 guard).
Key losses: Laura Howell (center), Missi O’Connor (guard), Kendra Lyman (forward).
Promising newcomers: Juniors – Megan Therrien (5-8 guard), Samantha Greenwood (5-3 guard), Kim Theriault (5-4 guard); Sophomore – Micaela Baron (5-7 forward); Freshmen – Loryanna Tracy (5-4 guard), Ashlie Robbins (5-7 forward).
Outlook: Simpson returns to a program he coached in the 1990’s. His Andies graduated 63 percent of the offense and will rely on its defensive play and a combination of speed and size. Welch was among the league leaders in rebounds while Ventrella was an All-MVC Honorable Mention. The Andies have holes to fill but expect to remain competitive and could challenge for another postseason berth.
Coach’s comment: ” I hope that we can show steady improvement during the season and maybe surprise some teams in the second half.” – Coach Mark Simpson
