WINTHROP – Kelsey Linnell’s 14 points led a balanced attack as Lisbon cruised to a 52-25 win over Winthrop in a Mountain Valley Conference girls’ basketball game Friday.
Renee Moore added 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, while Amber Cloutier chipped in with three treys for a total of nine points for the Greyhounds. Jess Campbell grabbed eight rebounds in the win.
Kelsey Ouellette was Winthrop’s top scorer with nine points.
Leavitt 63, Lincoln 37
NEWCASTLE – Adrianna Newton scored all 15 of her points in the second half to lead Leavitt to a 63-37 victory over Lincoln.
The Hornets (1-0) committed 15 fouls in the first half and led 27-25 at the break. They settled down to pull away in the second half.
Courtney Anderson led all scorers with 18 points. She also added eight rebounds and five assists. Kristen Anderson popped in 12 points and chipped in with six steals for the Hornets.
Lincoln (0-1) was led by Laura Soohey’s 10 points.
Brunswick 38, Ox. Hills 26
BRUNSWICK – Hilary Champagne scored 10 points as Brunswick held off Oxford Hills 38-26 in KVAC girls’ basketball.
The Dragons also received a big effort from Jacki Kelly who went 4-for-4 from the line in the waning moments. She also crashed the glass for nine offensive rebounds and finished with seven points.
Freshman Abbie Eastman led the Vikings with eight points.
Falmouth 43, Gray-NG 42
FALMOUTH – Falmouth raced to a 15-point lead after the first quarter and held off a furious second-half comeback for a 43-42 victory over Gray-New Gloucester.
The Yachtsman jumped out to a 21-6 lead after the first quarter and maintained a 29-16 advantage at halftime. Gray-NG roared back in the third quarter with a 17-4 run to tie the game at 33-33 entering the final stanza.
Anna Keeler led Falmourth with 12 points and Kylie Libby added 11 points. Jenn Serunian controlled the boards with 19 rebounds.
Laura Getchell scored a game-high 14 points fpr the Patriots and Kassie Wilson chipped in with 12 points.
Morse 57, Mt. Ararat 47
BATH – Tarra Barr popped in 18 points as Morse knocked off Mt. Ararat 57-47 in a KVAC girls’ basketball match Friday.
Sarah Fitzgerald added 16 points and grabbed eight boards for the Shipbuilders. Amber Bowley led the Eagles with 17 points while Tess Hitchcock chipped in with 11 points and Ariel Leduc contributed 10.
