The University of Southern Maine department of theater’s annual "DANCE USM!" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10, 11, 12 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 13. More than 20 student dancers, including 2005 Winthrop High School graduate Jessica Dummich, are involved in the show. Featured are five separate performance pieces, with costumes and lights designed by students. Above, Dummich and Michael Lynch rehearse a dance piece titled "Breath." In the tension-filled number, punctuated by long exhalations by four dancers, the rope looped around them stands for what binds people together, literally and figuratively. “It’s a tough piece,” said Dummich. “It’s built around resistance with the rope.” Performances will be in Russell Hall on the Gorham campus. Tickets are $14, $10 for seniors. Call 780-5151.
