DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am writing a history of the Lewiston & Auburn Railroad, better known as the Grand Trunk Depot on Lincoln Street, and the track that went out to Lewiston Junction in Auburn. This was the route that many people took to and from Quebec. I would like to hear from readers who may have photographs or clippings that I could scan and return, or who have stories to tell about their recollections of this important feature of Lewiston and Auburn history. Please contact me by Dec. 21 at [email protected] or 782-3072. — Doug Hodgkin, Lewiston

ANSWER:
Doug (who is associated with the Androscoggin Historical Society) has been very helpful in answering Sun Spots’ questions; so, readers, it’s your turn to return the favor.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you or any of your readers know anything about Psychic Char of Lisbon Falls? When is Kiley Bennett of Channel 13 expecting her baby? — B.L.P., Bethel

ANSWER:
You have Sun Spots at a loss. Is Psychic Char a name? Or do you mean a psychic named Char? There is a psychic named Char Margolis on the Internet, but I don’t see where she’s from Lisbon Falls. There’s another named Char, but she’s from Michigan.

Your question on Kiley Bennett is much easier. Here is her response: “I am due at the end of January. I’m having a baby boy. We’re very excited.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to know where my hairstylist, Christi, has moved to. She worked at the beauty salon between Marden’s and Edward’s Restaurant on Main Street in Lewiston. Thank you so much for any help you can give me. — G.F., Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My great-grand-aunt will be locating in either Lewiston or Auburn. She comes from the middle states. She’s interested in knowing how much it is for cable. She has two televisions and nothing else. She’s 89. Thank you. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER:
There is no simple way to answer this question. Cable prices depend on how many channels you want to watch. Online, Time Warner sells a $59.95 package for 12 months with over 200 channels and a free digital video recorder for six months. This does include two outlets.

If your aunt just wants the basic package, which would include primarily the major networks, she can reduce that cost considerably. But she will have to ask for it, as the cable companies will encourage an upgrade.

A few years ago Sun Spots took care of an elderly woman and found that she didn’t care for all the cable “extras.” The multiple remotes and devices were too confusing; she just wanted to watch the news, her “stories” (soap operas) and game shows.

You can call Time Warner Cable at 1-800-833-2253 to see what might work for your aunt.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a dozen 12- by 12-inch Styrofoam coolers with many refrigerant gel packs that I can’t seem to throw away. Is there an organization that can use them? Please call 562-7285. — No Name, Peru

ANSWER:
Those coolers should certainly be useful to someone.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there a Bible bookstore within a 30-mile radius of Livermore? — Arlene, Livermore

ANSWER:
Sun Spots isn’t sure if these are within the 30 miles precisely or exactly what they sell, but they showed up on an Internet search of Christian bookstores. Call before you drive, in case the Internet isn’t fully up-to-date.
