Adeline Runnels, 5, of Auburn, a kindergarten student at Sherwood Heights School, fashions some Christmas ornaments with her mom, Heather Runnels, during the International Holiday Celebration held at the Auburn Public Library on Monday. The event was an effort to bring together various cultures and experience different ways of celebrating the holidays. The evening was sponsored by Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin. “We wanted to bring children and parents together and use it as a teaching opportunity because parents are critical to the learning process,” said Tahlia Chamberlain, director of Literacy Volunteers.
