Cecile V. Belanger
1918 – 2009
LEWISTON — Cecile V. Belanger, 91, formerly of 60 Wood St., Lewiston, and a resident of Marshwood Nursing Home for the past year and a half, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 7, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with her family by her side.
She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 17, 1918, the daughter of Amedee and Olivine Richard Kirouac. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1935. She was employed for several years doing clerical work for LePage’s Bakery, and later as a sales clerk for the B. Peck Department Store.
On April 22, 1946, she married Felix P. Belanger. Her love and devotion to her husband of 63 years was unwavering. Her family was always the center of her life, and her now grown grandchildren especially brought her much joy. Through the years, she always had time to spend with them, never missing a birthday, school or sporting activity.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife.
A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by her husband of Lewiston; two sons, Felix R. and wife, Jill, of Tulsa, Okla., and Richard and wife, Diane, of Greene; three daughters, Suzanne and husband, Roger Lajoie, of Auburn, Claire and husband, Rudy Duplissis, of Lewiston and Diane Cote of Auburn; two sisters, Annette Berube of Lewiston and Yvette Carrier of Auburn; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Lionel Kirouac; and a sister, Emilienne Pinard.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at the Marshwood for having her and Felix’s best interest in mind.
