William H. Johnson
1946 – 2009
AUBURN — William Henry Johnson, 63, of Auburn, passed away Dec. 8, after a long illness.
He was born in South Paris, Sept. 27, 1946, the son of the late Oscar A. and Aili Kesseli Johnson. He was educated in the Oxford Hills school district.
Bill worked for many years in Norway shoe factories. Later he was a partner in a radiator repair business in Norway in the 1980s. He moved to Auburn in the early 1990s, working at Gates Formed Fiber and Tambrands, until he became disabled.
He enjoyed playing cards and bowling. In his teen years, he played guitar in a rock band called “The Offbeats.”
He is survived by his wife, Elsa and son, Anthony, both of Auburn; his stepson, Garte Sosmena stationed in Korea; his sons, William Jr. and Robert Johnson and wife, Carol, all of Norway; his daughter, Stacy Johnson and partner, Eric Berube, of Oxford; his sisters, Nancy Rich and husband, Joseph, of Norway and Marie McAlister of South Paris; a brother, David; grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Robbins and Jordan Fadden of Oxford; and several nieces and nephews.
