There should be a special place in hell for government contractors who cheat our soldiers and our country.
Maurice Subilia Jr. of Kennebunkport and several of his relatives are to be sentenced in federal court in January for bribing public officials and money laundering. Subilia paid $1.2 million in bribes to two officials at the Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, Ala.
In exchange for the bribes, the two officials gave more than $10 million in sub-contracts to Subilia’s companies.
In return, Subilia sent the Army worthless junk and outdated equipment.
Sadly, Subilia and his relatives join a long line of individuals and companies trying to bilk the U.S. military.
Bribery invariably means that money is wasted and our troops shortchanged. Subilia faces 40 years in prison. Let’s hope he gets them all.
