LIVERMORE FALLS – Mike Anctil came off the bench and scored six quick points in the first quarter to give Livermore Falls the push it needed. The Andies got on track and pulled away for a 67-42 victory over Telstar in an MVC boys’ basketball game Monday.

The quick surge helped Livermore Falls (3-0) open a 15-12 advantage after one quarter. The advantage quickly grew to 32-20 by halftime.

The Andies’ balanced attack was led by Nate Michaud and Chandler White with 12 points apiece. Tom Ventrella hauled down 10 rebounds and Mike Armstrong had nine boards. Livermore Falls rotated in 10 players and all 10 scored.

Dan Vaughn scored a game-high 20 points for Telstar (2-2).

Dirigo 47, Madison 27

MADISON – Tyler Chaisson led a balanced attack with 14 points as Dirigo overcame a slow start and upended Madison 47-27 on Monday in MVC basketball action.

Cody St. Germain added nine for the visiting Cougars (4-0).

Cody Briggs led the Bulldogs with 13 points, including one from 3-point range.

Mountain Valley 106, Carrabec 11

RUMFORD – Mountain Valley drilled five 3-pointers en route to 34 first quarter points and cruised from there for a 106-11 victory over Carrabec in Mountain Valley Conference boys’ basketball action Monday night.

Jon Benjamin led six Falcon scorers who reached double figures with 24 points, including four 3-pointers. Jacob Arsenault had an outstanding all-around game with 13 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists, and six steals. Derek Volkernick also added 13 points, Chris Day and Brady Fergola 11 points apiece and Cam Kaubris 10 points for Mountain Valley (4-0).

Justin Richardson led a short-handed Carrabec (0-4) squad with five points.

Girls’ basketball

Kents Hill 38, Buckfield 34

KENTS HILL – Kents Hill used a strong second quarter and a 14-point performance by Natalie Tortorella to edge Buckfield 38-34 on Monday. Brittany Sharp added seven for the Huskies (1-1).

Buckfield’s Ashley Hamann led the Bucks (0-3) with 14 points.

Mountain Valley 51, Carrabec 31

RUMFORD – Ayla Allen poured in 20 points and hauled down 14 rebounds to lead Mountain Valley to a 51-31 triumph over previously unbeaten Carrabec.

The Falcons (2-2) jumped out to a 13-3 and 29-15 advantage after the first two quarters.

The lead grew to 40-22 after three quarters.

Lindsay Gallant and Breana Roberts chipped in with seven points each.

Alicha Stoddard scored 10 points to lead Carrabec (3-1).
