Robert R. Rousseau
1939 – 2009

NORWAY — Robert R. Rousseau, 70, of 3 Market Square, South Paris and formerly of Lewiston, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 13, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Lewiston, July 12, 1939, the son of the late Abel and Roberta (Poulin) Rousseau. He was educated at St. Peter’s School and attended St. Dominic Regional High School.

He owned and operated a scrap metal business and later a coin shop in the 1970s. He had belonged to many social clubs in the Lewiston and Auburn area. He enjoyed harness racing, watching wrestling, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by two sons, Anthony and Marc Rousseau; six daughters, Connie Jernigan, Veronica Grady, Rachel Grady, Ann Rousseau Ramsdell, June Devoe and Hope Blackwelder; two brothers, Normand Rousseau and his wife, Connie and Roger Morin and his wife, Sharon; two sisters, Pauline Marcoux and Doris Drouin and her husband, Maurice; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Romain Morin; and his sisters, Connie Rousseau, Julienne Morrow and Claire Gagne.

The family would like to say a special thank-you to the staff at Market Square Health Care Center, where he resided for 37 years. They also would like to thank the staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
