LEWISTON — A male student was injured in shop class Tuesday at the Lewiston Regional Technical Center.
The leg injury was not serious. He was treated at a hospital and released, then returned to school, LRTC Director Rob Callahan said.
The accident occurred when a vehicle students were working on rolled back and clipped the student in the leg, Callahan said. The student said his leg was OK but sore. The school nurse evaluated him, and as a precaution the student was taken to the hospital and examined, Callahan said.
The school has a good safety record but is evaluating its policies to ensure such an incident doesn’t happen again, Callahan said.
“The good news is that classmates and teachers responded quickly and appropriately, but we’re re-looking at everything,” he said. “Thankfully, the student was not seriously injured and returned to school.”
