On New Year’s Day, at 7:30 a.m., NBC’s “Today Show” will broadcast a profile of artist Robert Indiana, featuring the Farnsworth Art Museum’s “Robert Indiana and the Star of Hope” exhibition. The report will focus on Indiana’s famous “HOPE” sculpture, created in 2008.
The Farnsworth Art Museum, located in Rockland, recently extended the exhibit through Jan. 10, 2010.
The exhibition on the renowned artist
In particular, it examines the remarkable environment Indiana has created there, and the role this environment has played in his work. The exhibition includes some of his best-known themes “LOVE,” the American dream and his Marsden Hartley Elegy series as well as the acclaimed “HOPE” sculpture, which premiered at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver.
The Farnsworth Art Museum’s winter hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students age 17 and older. Children 16 and under admitted free.
