LEWISTON — Producing the admissions packet for Fryeburg Academy earned Penmor Lithographers of Lewiston the Best of Show award at the annual Awards of Excellence print competition sponsored by The Printing Industries of New England.
Held Nov. 12 in Framingham, Mass., the PINE Industry Awards Gala drew 325 submissions from 47 member companies.
This is the second time in three years the family-owned company has won the Best of Show award. Designed by Gormley Design of Bethel, the admissions packet includes a view book, two informational brochures and an application form inserted into a vertical pocket folder. All facets of production from prepress, to press, die cutting, machine and hand bindery work was accomplished at the Lewiston firm, which has specialized in printing solutions for more than 40 years.
A panel of three judges with extensive printing backgrounds from outside the New England region inspected all submissions. The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, and overall visual impact and bindery.
In addition to the Best of Show prize, Penmor also garnered a Best of Category and two Awards of Merit.
Owned and operated by second-generation Fillion family members, Penmor Lithographers employs more than 60 people. It is located at 8 Lexington St.
