LISBON — A local man, Gerald Martin, 45, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center Friday morning after suffering an apparent “medically related emergency,” while driving his car on Upland Road Monday morning police said.
According to police officer Richard St. Amant, Martin was driving in an easterly direction on Upland Road shortly before 8:30 a.m. when he was stricken. His car swerved off the right shoulder, struck a utility pole guide wire, which cause the top of the poll to snap off resulting in a power outage.
St. Amant said Martin’s car then continued out of control for another 150 feet before striking a tree.
He did not suffer any injuries related to the crash, he said.
Central Maine Power repair crews responded to the scene and replaced the pole, restoring power at 9:12 a.m.
Damage was estimated at $2,500 to Martin’s 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier.
