FARMINGTON — The Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will host the 11 p.m. community Christmas Eve service this year. All are welcome. The service will feature a combined choir under the direction of Daniel Woodward. “Those Who Still Believe” will be the theme of Pastor Susan Crane’s meditation.

Scriptures will be read by John Anderson, Crystal McBean and Steve Russell. During the congregational singing of “Silent Night” candles will be lit from the Christ candle.

The combined choir will sing “The First Christmas” and “Night of Silence.” Singers from other church choirs are encouraged to sing and anyone from the community who likes to sing is most welcome to take part. The choir will not be wearing choir robes that evening. There will be a rehearsal at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the church, and another rehearsal at 10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, to prepare the two anthems. Sheet music will be provided.

An offering will be received for the Franklin County Ecumenical Heating Fund during the service. The fund is a ministry of the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry and seeks to provide emergency fuel assistance for any Franklin County household in need, regardless of income or religious affiliation, throughout the heating season.

They have served 141 families since Sept. 1. Checks for the offering should be made payable to ECU HEAT and may also be sent at any time to: ECU HEAT, P.O. Box 147, Farmington, ME 04938. All gifts will be acknowledged and are tax deductible.
