RUMFORD — Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 has announced the 2010 scholarship winners.

Boys named were Carl Zurhost, first place and Richard Russell, second. Girls winning were Chelsea and Patricia Fortin, who tied for first place. The students are seniors at Mountain Valley High School.

Zurhost received $600 and Russell received $300. The girl winners each received $450. The winners are eligible for scholarship consideration at the state level, and those who further qualify will be considered on the national level.

All seniors in RSU 10, SAD 44 and Gould Academy students who reside in those RSU and SAD towns, who are planning to further their education at an accredited four-year school, may apply for the scholarship. Seniors who are children or grandchildren of living Elks are eligible to apply for an Elks Legacy Scholarship. 

The scholarship committee members who judge the applicants are Lew Irish, Mike Auby and Allan Gallant.
