Aline Couture
1938-2009
AUBURN — Aline G. Couture, 71, of 28 Rachel Blvd., Lewiston, died Monday morning at the Hospice House, following a brief illness, with family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Auburn on Sept. 4, 1938, the daughter of Ovila and Rebecca (Lepine) Lamontagne. She married Louis-Paul Couture on June 14, 1958. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. He died in August 2009.
Aline lived in Lewiston most of her life, and was a member of Holy Family Church. She also was employed as an encoder for the former Fleet and Bank North for more than 18 years.
Being with family and friends, and celebrating the holidays, were some of Aline’s greatest joys. She always made every holiday special, and would often watch Martha Stewart and the Cooking Channel for the latest ideas, recipes, decorations and holiday arrangements. Aline was also known for her generous nature.
She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia McGraw and her husband, Roland, of North Carolina, and Laurianne Champagne and her husband, Marcel, Cynthia Martin and her husband, Timothy, and Susan Hatch and her husband, Kevin, all of Poland; her grandchildren, Zachary Hatch, Elizabeth Champagne, Katelyn McGraw and Tyler Hatch; three sister-in-laws, Madeline Lemieux of Lisbon, Monique Doiron and her husband, Roger, of Lewiston, and Jane Couture and her husband, Fern, of Florida; cousins, who she considered brothers and sisters, Edward (Gerry) Bergeron, Richard Bergeron, Roland Bergeron and Lorraine Cote; and many nieces and nephews.
