LEWISTON — On Friday, Jan. 8, Lewiston-Auburn will hold its first Pecha Kucha Night, a high-energy evening involving creative people who gather to share ideas, at L/A Arts’ Gallery 5.

Each presenter shows 20 images for 20 seconds each. Pecha Kucha Night was started in Tokyo by Klein Dytham Architecture in 2003 as a way for young designers to meet, network and show their work. It has become a trademarked event.

“During the two years that I managed Gallery 5, I was awed by the number of creative people in our community and the impact that they have on our daily lives. The days that artists dropped off their work at Gallery 5 were so energizing for me. I felt that I was the luckiest person in town to have these wonderful conversations,” said Tammy Grieshaber, owner of Mainly Kids Photography.

Expected participants are Todd Macintosh, cabinet and furniture designer; Lilac Kennedy, poet; Geo. Lighten, videographer; Dare Reimburse, baker; Ellen Peters, actress; Gabby Russell, architect; Jeanelle Demurs, painter; Tracy Twitched Pray, photographer; Melinda Campbell, painter; Roderick Dew, digital artist; and Paul Advise, painter.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an informal chitchat and networking, followed by six presentations starting at 6:20 p.m. with intermission at 7:15 p.m., five more presentations starting at 7:35 p.m. and an informal chitchat at 8:30 p.m.
Pecha Kucha Night is open to the public. A $5 donation is appreciated to help cover expenses. Gallery 5 is at 49 Lisbon St.
