This is in response to the letter from Bertha Bodenheimer, printed Dec. 22, regarding the Sun Journal headline and story about alleged incidents involving a group of Somali youths terrorizing the community.

I believe Bodenheimer would be thinking differently had it been her or somebody close to her who was attacked.

I am curious as to why the public is just hearing about the incidents now. Why wasn’t the public notified of the first, second or any following attacks? Had it been a gang of white children, I’m sure the public would have heard about it long ago, perhaps after the first incident.

The question to Bodenheimer would be, does she feel safe enough to walk downtown alone? Does she think she is strong enough to fight off a half-dozen kids carrying weapons and an obvious hatred toward the community that welcomed them?

I don’t feel that this is a prejudiced community. We have accepted them and now this is what we get in return.

How do parents not know when their 10-year-old is tormenting people with a gang of future convicts? When they are not doing their job as parents, that’s when.

Maybe Bodenheimer could offer day care services to those youths who are wandering the streets, beating and stealing from the seemingly weak residents of the community.
