Donald G. Blais
1932-2009
AUBURN — Donald G. Blais, 77, of Auburn, died Christmas Day at the Hospice House surrounded by his family.
He was born November 28, 1932 in Waterville, the son of Gerard and Gloria Blais. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1952, and attended college in California. He married Eleanor Fleury Sawyer in 1966.
Don held several sales positions on both the West and East Coasts. He also started Fashion Lane Uniforms on Main Street, Lewiston, in the early 70s. He owned and operated this business until his retirement in 1992.
He and Ellie enjoyed extensive travel and golf as long as their health permitted.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Lucien.
Don is survived by his wife of 43 years, Eleanor Blais of Auburn; son, Thomas Sawyer, his wife Susan, and their children, Chris and Emily, of Westfield, Mass.; daughter, Brenda Sawyer and her husband, Kit Perry, of Gardiner; his faithful cat companion, Shadow, who brought him great comfort during his illness; and his coffee buddies at Dunkin Donuts.
Don’s family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice for the gentle, professional care they provided to him and his family.
