Bernice A. Martin
1920 – 2009
AUBURN — Bernice A. Martin, 89, formerly of 2626 Hotel Road, Auburn, died Monday, Dec. 28, at the Hospice House after a long illness.
She was born in Auburn, Jan. 18, 1920, the daughter of Alphonse and Anna (Fournier) Montminy.
While living in Auburn, she attended Sacred Heart Church, and was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston.
In her younger days, she loved dancing and was employed many years as a hand stitcher in the local shoe industry until her retirement.
During retirement, she loved to winter in Florida, and was very proud of her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Richard L. Martin and his wife, Joline, of Minot, Michael A. Martin of Augusta and Gerard Montminy of Lewiston; two brothers, Roger Montminy of Lewiston and Edgar Montminy and his wife, Faye, of Belfast; one sister, Irene Tremblay of Lewiston, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Cote and Jane Treadwell; and two brothers, Leo and Armand Montminy.
