Robert E. Keenan
1926 – 2009
BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Robert E. Keenan, 83, of Bellingham, Wash., and formerly of Gorham, N.H., died Dec. 23, of natural causes.
He was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Errol, N.H., the son of Charles and Shirlie (Chadwick) Keenan. He attended school in Berlin, N.H., and was a graduate of Gould Academy in Bethel in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was married to his childhood sweetheart, Irene Bisson on Aug. 7, 1948.
He was a member of the N.H. State Pistol Team and also served as a member of the Gorham school board. He moved to Bellingham with his wife in 1972, where his employment involved the fabrication of components for the Alaska oil pumping stations and pipeline.
He is survived by his oldest son, Shawn Keenan of Bath; a grandson, Casey of Cambridge, Mass.; and his sister, Barbara MacDougal of Bethel.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years and his son, Bruce Keenan, both of Bellingham.
