Church supper
SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold a lasagna supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, with donations to benefit the Haiti Outreach Mission. Bill and Linda Glass will give a brief talk about the mission school.
At 7 p.m. there will be an informal New Year and Epiphany Service to honor the coming of the Wise Men to see the baby Jesus and present gifts.
A community movie, “Secondhand Lions,” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9. Admission is free; refreshments will be on sale.
Heywood Club
NORWAY — The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at the home of Marilyn Eaton. All are welcome. After the meeting, an auction will be held and members are asked to bring a wrapped inexpensive item.
Sunday service
SOUTH PARIS — Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, will hold a service on Sunday, Jan. 3. All children are invited to to Sunday school at 9 a.m. and all are welcome to worship service at 10:15 followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship.
Tai chi classes
NORWAY — The MaineHealth Learning Resource Center at Stephens Memorial
Hospital is offering a “Tai Chi and Qigong to Improve Your Health”
class from 10:15 to 11:115 a.m. Mondays, Jan. 11 to Feb. 15, at the
Norway Memorial Library. Cost is $55 a person.
Tai chi and qigong instructor Betsey Foster, MPH, will teach a
six-week program that combines both martial arts. The class is suitable
for those who might want a
slower pace and/or are dealing with health issues. Have a friend try
tai chi for half the price.

New dance caller
SOUTH PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club has hired Al Hipkins
of Brunswick to be its new club caller. His first session on Modern
Western Square Dance will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, and the
session will be open to beginners, age 17 and older. The first session
will be free for beginners at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine
Street.
He will also teach a continuation course to the class that began in
September and workshop for club members. The charge is $3 a person a
session. Wednesday, Jan. 13, will also be free for anyone coming for
the first time if unable to attend Jan. 6. After that all interested
may watch but not participate until the next time a class for beginners
will take place.

Blood drive
SOUTH PARIS — Maine Blood Center will have a blood drive from 1 to 5:30
p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Legion Hall on Church Street. To make an

ID. The drive is being sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 72.
