Seniors to meet
BETHEL — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet for luncheon at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Bethel Inn. The price of dinner is $12 for members and $14 for nonmembers. Reservations are required before Monday, Jan. 11, by calling Nancy at 824-3350 or Arlene at 824-2877.
Joy of reading
PARIS — For the Joy of Reading Aloud Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 11 and 25, at the Paris Public Library. The first selection will be “Mercy Watson to the Rescue” by Kate Dicamillo for those reading at third-grade level or above.
A community winter picnic will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 18, in the children’s library in celebration of Martin Luther King Day. Children are invited to bring a blanket and lunch and listen to two biographical picture books, “Art From Her Heart: Folk Artist Clementine Hunter” by Kathy Whitehead and Shane Evans and “Minty: A Story of Young Harriet Tubman” by Alan Schroeder and Jerry Pinkey.
Library speaker
WOODSTOCK — Wayne Howe will be the guest speaker at the Whitman
Memorial Library at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14. He will show slides of
rail cars, rail speeders and putt cars and talk about his hobby of
riding putt cars.
Howe is a Bryant Pond resident and a retired
middle school teacher and is currently station manager at channel 11,
Western Hills Access Television. The program is open to the public
free, and light refreshments will be served.
Mom’s group meets
BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Mom’s Group meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on
the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the Birth House, 28
South High St.
The group is open to women with pre-mobile babies. Older children are
welcome at mother’s discretion and there is a breastfeeding friendly
environment.

Stamping classes
SOUTH PARIS — Rubber hand stamping monthly classes will be held at 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, beginning in January, at the Paris Public Library. There will be a materials fee of $10. Register for classes with Kathryn Pulsifier at 539-4335, 890-6874 or [email protected].
A “Stamp-A-Stack” class will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan.
17, at Pulsifer’s home, 52 Skeetfield Road, Oxford. Participants
will make 20 all-occasion cards, five each of four designs. Snacks,
beverages and all project materials will be included in the fee of $25.
Proceeds will benefit the Maine Veterans Home. Preregister by Friday,
