Bertha M. Perkins
1923 – 2010

WEST PARIS — Bertha M. Perkins, 86, of South Paris died Sunday, Jan. 3, at the Ledgeview Living Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Revere, Mass., Aug. 19, 1923, to Charles and Sadie (Cushman) Hudson. She had worked for many years as a beautician in the Norway area and also taught at a beauty school. She had also worked at the Cumberland School Department associated with the lunch program.

Retiring in 1986, she moved back to South Paris, where she started working for her daughter, Mary in the lawn care business. She enjoyed working in her gardens and watching and feeding the birds. She enjoyed and loved her grandchildren. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Universalist Church of South Paris and Good Cheer at the church.

She married her beloved husband, William Perkins on Jan. 29, 1944, and he predeceased her on Jan. 7, 2008.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Savageau and husband, Daryl, of South Paris, Priscilla Crockett and husband, John, of Andover, N.H., and Mary Perkins and companion, Patrick, of Lovell; grandchildren, William and wife, Michelle Penley, David and wife, Kathleen Crockett and Melissa and husband, Doug Hanson; and nine great-grandchildren; and a half brother, Ted Cushman of Florida.
