Wiscasset 61, St. Dom’s 43

WISCASSET — Cody Griffin led a balanced attack that saw five other players score eight points each to lead Wiscasset to a 61-43 MVC basketball victory over St. Dom’s on Monday.

Tyler Sonia led the group of players at eight points for the Redskins (4-4) with a pair of 3-pointers.

Kurt Johnson led the Saints (4-4) and all scorers with 15 points, and Nathan Poulin chipped in with three treys and 11 total points in the losing effort.

Hall-Dale 57, Lisbon 44

LISBON — Ryan Leach poured in 26 points to help Hall-Dale pull away in the third quarter for a 57-44 victory over Lisbon Monday night.

The Bulldogs led 25-23 at halftime, then opened the margin to double digits by outscoring the Greyhounds, 19-10, in the third quarter. Damion Melnicove added 11 points for Hall-Dale (5-3). Scott Eck led Lisbon (0-8) with 18 points, while Mike Degou chipped in with 13 and Chris Whitney 10 points.

Hockey

Lewiston 4, Bangor 2

BANGOR — Joey Fournier capped a hat trick with an empty-net goal in the final seconds of regulation Monday to lead Lewiston to a 4-2 win over Bangor in an Eastern Class A hockey showdown at Sawyer Arena.

Ryan Lemelin netted the Blue Devils’ first goal of the night while Nick Mathon, Sam Cloutier, Ben Wigant and Scott Ouellette all collected assists. Cam Poussard stopped 31 of 33 shots he faced for Lewiston (6-0-0).

Bangor’s Phil Frost and Joey Seccareccia each earned a goal for the Rams (2-4-1), while Nate Lewis added a pair of assists.

Boys’ basketball

Mt. Abram 62, Telstar 58

SALEM – Alex Shaw and Jim Barker drained three 3-pointers apiece in the second quarter to allow Mt. Abram to open up a 15-point cushion by halftime. The Roadrunners held off Telstar’s comeback bid to post their first victory of the season, a 62-58 victory Monday in an MVC boys’ basketball contest.

The 11 3-pointers by Mt. Abram (1-7) proved to be the difference. Shaw finished with five treys, while Barker had four and Joey Lampron sank a pair.

The Roadrunners led 14-11 after the first quarter before Shaw and Barker lit up the scoreboard from behind the arc to extend the advantage to 39-24 by halftime.

Barker led all players with 26 points, while Shaw tossed in 16 points. Dan Vaughn scored 22 points to pace Telstar. Danny Whitney added 13 points and Elek Pew had 12.

Livermore Falls 91, Madison 51

LIVERMORE FALLS – Utilizing a balanced running attack, Livermore Falls raced to a large first-quarter lead and poured it on for a 91-51 triumph over Carrabec.

The Andies (6-2) scored at least 20 points in each quarter, building leads of 22-8, 43-20 and 65-29 at the quarter breaks. Most of Livermore Falls’ points came in transition.

Chandler White and Mike Armstrong led the way with 15 points each, while Tom Ventrella added 11 points and 14 rebounds and Derek Castonguay had 12 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Armstrong also had 11 rebounds in addition to his 15 points.

Nick Moody and Cody Small paced the Bulldogs (2-6) with 12 points apiece.

Jay 68, Carrabec 50

JAY – With Carrabec’s post player Aaron Lane on the bench with four fouls in the third period, Austin Clark went to work and directed a potent surge that broke opened a close game and sent Jay to a 68-50 victory over the Cobras.

Clark scored nine of his game-high 25 points in the decisive quarter when Jay went on a 25-12 surge after leading 23-21 at halftime. Lane came back later in the third quarter to help stem the run, but Carrabec could not recover.

Clark also hauled down 16 rebounds. Kyle Storer chipped in with 15 points – 11 in the second half – and 11 rebounds, while Jordan DiMillo had four assists and three steals.

Lane led the Cobras (2-6) with 13 points. Jason Richarson finished with 12 points and Dillon Dominski had 11.
