STRONG — The Strong Public Library has welcomed Cheryl McCleery as its new library director. McCleery graduated from Strong High School and has been working in the library at Leeds Central School for the past 3½ years.

Previously, she taught English at Carrabec High School in North Anson, where she also was the yearbook advisor, published the Carrabec Chronicle school newspaper and worked as the high school librarian.

McCleery has a bachelors degree from the University of Maine at Farmington and a masters degree in education from the University of Maine. She received her associates degree in library and information technology from the University of Maine at Augusta in May 2006.

A meet and greet with McCleery will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the library, followed by story time for children from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Light refreshments will be served.
