LIVERMORE FALLS — Entertainers from the Netherlands and Maine will perform Wednesday during the Frantasia Ice Cracker, a music and arts concert series, at the Treat Memorial Library auditorium.

Fran Szostek of Livermore Falls has been organizing concerts for years that highlight musicians and artists challenging themselves to produce something outside their traditional music zones. Some refer to it as “out music.”

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 6, in the library auditorium, off Route 4, locally known as Main and Bridge streets. Suggested donation is $5 but no one will be turned away, Szostek said.

Szostek has also organized a second concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Cityside Grill, 16 Park St., in Lewiston.
During the Livermore Falls concert, featured performers will be Wouter Jaspers, Bram Stadhouders and Bas Verbeek from the Netherlands, and Maine musicians, Greg Boardman and Bill Dacos, Chris Cathode, and BreadRose, made up of Joe Gates, Martin Chartrand and Nicole LePera. LePera will also perform solo.

The Netherlands performers will showcase “dark drones, free jazz and noise performances,” Szostek said.

At the Lewiston concert, all but Boardman and Dacos are scheduled to perform.

A third concert in the series, not organized by Szostek, will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, in Portland. It is hosted by Strange Maine at 578 Congress St. Highlights include the Netherlands performers among others.
