Lorraine Poulin Sheehy
1924 – 2010
AUBURN — Lorraine Poulin Sheehy, 85, of Lewiston, died on Jan. 2, at Clover Manor after an extended illness.
She was born in Auburn, July 31, 1924, the daughter of Honore and Madora (St. Laurent) Poulin.
She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s School, Lewiston High School, Class of 1942, and Auburn Maine School of Commerce, Class of 1946.
She worked in the cost accounting department of the Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Lewiston and later held the prestigious position as Pay Mistress for the Mansion House at Poland Spring Resort in Maine.
She married Paul Sheehy in 1950, and traveled with him during his military service. While in Kentucky, she volunteered as an American Red Cross Gray Lady at Camp Breckenridge, caring for sick and wounded soldiers. Eventually, she and Paul returned to the Lewiston-Auburn area, where she focused on raising her family.
She enjoyed piano playing, rug braiding, fine and decorative art, and quilt making. She was an active volunteer in the community, giving many hours to Central Maine Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, of 59 years; daughters, Angela Chabot and her husband, Daniel, of Turner and Mary Booth and her husband, Michael, of North Yarmouth; sister, Pauline Caron Harris and husband, Walter, of Topsham; brother, Dr. Gerard Poulin of Fall River, Mass.; sister-in-law, Lucille Poulin of Lewiston; brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas J. Sheehy of Huntington, N.Y.; grandchildren, Gunnery Sgt. Randolph Chabot of USMC of Okinawa, Japan, Melanie Chabot of Old Orchard Beach, Christopher Booth of Somerville, Mass., and Jennifer Booth of Peabody, Mass.; and 16 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Fern Poulin and Lionel Poulin; brother-in-law, Fred Caron; sisters-in-law, Dr. Adelaide Scanlon Sheehy and Mildred Poulin.
