LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free six-week spiritual coaching course for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers titled “Tools for Intentional Living and Transformation.”
The course will run from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Jan. 12, in the CMMC Conference Classroom at 300 Main St.
Teresa A. Schulz will lead the course. Schulz received a master of arts from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, Calif., and received her post-masters certificate in spiritual direction from The Mercy Center for the Healing of the Whole Person located in Colorado Springs.
She is a spiritual director, lay theologian, retreat facilitator, lecturer and author. She has also served as a hospital chaplain providing spiritual and pastoral care to patients and families at end-of-life.
The course outline is as follows:
Session 1, Tuesday, Jan. 12, “Explore and Renew Your Inner Spirit.”
Session 2, Tuesday, Jan. 19, “Deepening Your Spirituality.”
Session 3, Tuesday, Jan. 26, “Develop and Grow in Your Spirituality.”
Session 4, Tuesday, Feb. 2,
“Grounded in the Sacredness of Ordinary Life.”
Session 5, Tuesday, Feb. 9, “Grace Happens – Metanoia.”
Session 6, Tuesday, Feb. 16, “Imparting Your Wisdom – Spiritual Wills and Legacies.”
Due to the progressive nature of the course, the Dempsey Center requests that participants make every effort to attend all sessions. The course is free and light refreshments will be provided.
