Dennis Lee Faulkner
1950 – 2010
BRUNSWICK — Dennis Lee Faulkner, 59, of Baybridge Road, passed away on Jan. 4, at his home with his loving wife, children and constant canine companion, Sasha, by his side after a hard-fought and courageous battle against kidney disease and cancer.
He was born March 26, 1950, in Houlton, to Marguerite Stockford and Arthur Earl Faulkner. He attended Houlton schools and in 1979, he received his accounting degree from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Presque Isle. He was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1972 in Vietnam, where he received three service medals. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Topsham American Legion.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, playing pool, and everything about cars, especially drag racing. He was thrilled to join his buddies he met through the VA at Winterport Dragway. The “Four Hoodlums,” Jim, Ralph and Tony, were able to spend a wonderful day of racing together with him. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and loved Texas. He had a passion for music, playing the guitar and singing with his melodic bass voice.
For the past 26 years, he shared his life and his heart with his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Ruth Murphy. They were married on April 14, 1983 in Houlton. They moved to Brunswick in 1998, where he started working for Bath Iron Works as a carpenter. He continued at BIW until he was no longer able to work in 2008. This is where he met his good friend “Beanie.” In the summer of 2008, their children hosted a large celebration with friends and family from across the country celebrating their 25th anniversary. Recently, he was happy to learn he would be a great-grandfather in the spring of this year. The family celebrated on Dec. 13 when he was baptized at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Dot of Brunswick; his son, Scott McLaughlin and daughter-in-law, Tiffany, of Richmond and his son, Lee Faulkner and granddaughter, Renee Lynn, and her mother, Violet, all of Dyer Brook; daughter, Laurie Newcomb, son-in-law Brian, granddaughter, Amelia Lynn and her boyfriend, Ray Taylor of Brunswick; a sister, Ruth (Dana) Worthley of Houlton; a brother, Tommy (Sharon) McKee of Morrill; a special sister-in-law, Barbara Faulkner of Keller, Texas, and a sister-in-law, Sherry Donahue of Monticello and Max Shaw of Presque Isle; he will be greatly missed by his nieces, Dora (James) Epstein of Virginia Beach, Va., Sherry (Melvin) Hicks and their daughter, Abby of Roanoke, Texas, and Wendy (Casey) Dunn of Flower Mound, Texas, all who were able to visit with Barb and spend precious time with him this past fall; he will be greatly missed by a special friend, Evelyn Suitter; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; his mother-in-law, Bessie Chase; his brother, Wendell Faulkner; and nephews, Michael Faulkner and Stephen Donahue.
The family would like to thank Dr. Trudi Chase and everyone at Parkview Oncology for their time, care and concern, Dr. Michael Sampson and his staff at Coastal Ear, Nose and Throat, and CHANS Hospice nurses Pam and Lisa.
