The Center
The Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting was established in 2009 to provide in-depth and independent reporting on the actions of state and local governments. Its stories are offered as a public service to its newspaper and other media partners.
The Center is in the process of being incorporated as a non-profit and will seek funding from foundations and donors. The Center is affiliated with the New England Center for Investigative Reporting at Boston University.
The executive director and senior reporter at the Center is John Christie. The Hallowell resident is the recently-retired publisher of the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel. Christie’s 40-year journalism career includes stints as a reporter, editor and executive at newspapers in Maine, Massachusetts and Florida.
The Center’s e-mail address is [email protected]. The Web site is www.pinetreewatchdog.org.
