1938 – 2010
AUGUSTA — Sandra J. Chaney of Wilton, 71, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Maine Veterans’ Home, where she had been a patient for a week and after a long illness. She was born Aug 8, 1938, in Augusta, the daughter of Edward and Dorothea (Tabbut) Gipson. She was educated in the schools of Rockland, and Beverly, Mass., and later earned her G.E.D.
She married Norman Chaney 42 years ago in Weld. She was a member of the Wilton Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking for her family and friends. She and her husband camped all over Eastern Canada and the U.S., and were especially fond of Cobscook Bay State Park and the islands of New Brunswick, Campobello and Grand Manan, with a special love for whale watching.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Chaney of Wilton; two sons, Scott Vogler and his wife, Leissa, of Limerick and Barry Vogler of Jay; two daughters, Dorothea Vogler of Farmington and Amy Jean V. Chaney of Gray; special friends, Elsie Dill of Phillips and Ellen Nadeau of Wilton; and three grandchildren.
