1924 – 2010
FARMINGTON — Richard “Shorty” Mooar, 85, of Farmington, died early Friday, Jan. 8, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care.
He was born in Wilton, Dec. 8, 1924, a son of Earl and Apphia (Hutchinson) Mooar. He attended West Farmington and Farmington schools and in 1947 married Gwendolyn Macomber. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. “Shorty” worked for EL Vining and Son in Farmington for many years and he enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, fishing, and playing cards.
He is survived by a son, Larry Mooar of Portland; a sister-in-law, Kathleen “Kitty” McDonald and her husband, Alvin, of Dryden; a brother-in-law, Norman Macomber and his wife, Marilyn, of Toms River, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife; and three brothers, Earlon, Robert, and Rupert.
