FARMINGTON — A Freeman Township man was arrested Saturday after police say he beat up a friend and pulled a knife over a cigarette.

Benjamin Fox, 21, was arrested on a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and given a summons on a charge of assault, Farmington police Detective Marc Bowering said.

Officer Darin Gilbert responded to a call at the parking lot of Hannaford supermarket on Wilton Road but when he arrived Fox had left the scene.

The two knew each other and were in a vehicle together, Bowering said.

Fox contacted police after he found out they were looking for him and he came down to the police station, he said.

After talking to Fox, Gilbert charged him.

Fox was released Sunday on $500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in a Farmington Court on Feb. 18.
