LISBON — A Lisbon bank robber will find out his fate at a later date after pleading guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Portland.
U.S. Attorney Paula D. Silsby announced Monday afternoon that Randy Krog Jr., 32, of 49 Wing St. Apt. 16C, Lisbon Falls, entered a guilty plea to a one-count indictment charging him with robbery in connection with a bank robbery at Androscoggin Savings Bank on Lisbon Street in Lisbon Falls last Oct. 13.
U.S. District Court Judge D. Brock Hornby accepted Krog’s guilty plea, but no date has been set for sentencing.
Krog has been held as a federal prisoner at Cumberland County Jail in Portland since he was indicted by a federal grand jury on Dec. 15, according to a jail spokesman.
Krog was arrested by Lisbon police on a charge of armed robbery the night of Oct. 13 at his apartment. Court documents indicate Krog entered the branch bank earlier that same afternoon, demanded money and fled with approximately $3,330.
The robbery was reported at 1:29 p.m. and Krog was in police custody by 9 p.m. that night.
Silsby praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lisbon Police Department.
Lisbon Police Chief David Brooks at the time credited “excellent police work” for the quick apprehension of Krog. Some of the loot, along with items used in the
robbery, including gloves and a hat, were recovered where they were
discarded in Bowdoin.
Although Krog was believed to have acted alone in the robbery, police said at the time that it was possible that others would
be charged in connection with the case, although no other charges have been filed in connection with the case.
A surveillance video, descriptions of the suspect by bank personnel
and information gathered by police about other recent incidents in
Lisbon led police to Krog as the prime suspect.
