MEXICO — The cord on the First Baptist Church’s organ has been cut by vandals for the second time in several months, and police Sgt. Roy Hodsdon believes both incidents are related to thefts of cash from the church in the past year or so.

He estimated damage to the cord at about $200.

The church is on Roxbury Road.

In other police news, Randy Wilber, 18, of Church Street in West Paris was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Jan. 11 on a warrant charging failure to appear in court. He is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Feb. 2.

The manager of the Dead River Food Trend on Main Street reported at 1:33 p.m. Jan. 7 that vandals spray painted the rear of the building and a nearby Dumpster. About $50 worth of paint was needed to cover them.

A Summit Street resident reported at 10:09 a.m. Jan. 9 that someone entered his residence while he was sleeping and took a television valued at $800 and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A resident of Whippoorwill Road in Rumford reported at 3:41 p.m. Jan. 11 that someone took her daughter’s cell phone, valued at $120, from Mountain Valley Middle School.
