LEWISTON — At a recent gathering of various organizations representing food pantries throughout the Androscoggin and Oxford county area, Phil Moreau, president and CEO of Rainbow Federal Credit Union,
presented a check for $10,000 to John Paradise, government and public affairs manager for the Maine Credit Union League, for the Campaign for Ending Hunger
Each year the Social Responsibility Committee of Rainbow Federal Credit Union determines what organizations will receive assistance. It’s based upon the communities that the credit union serves in Androscoggin and Oxford counties, and the food pantries that service those communities.
Among those organizations that the credit union has contributed to this year, in addition to the Maine Credit Union League, are Good Shepherd Food Bank, St. Martin de Porres, Hope Haven Mission, Rural Community Action Ministry, Trinity Jubilee Center, Oxford Hills Food Pantry, Salvation Army and St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
Since 1990, the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger has
raised more than $3.1 million. One hundred percent of that has gone directly to the
cause and stayed in Maine.
