Eileen Rosenblatt
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Eileen (Malsberg) Rosenblatt passed away in her Delray Beach, Fla., home at the age of 71 on Dec. 29, 2009. She died in her sleep with her family nearby.
She was born in Chelsea, Mass., and grew up there surrounded by her family. She was also a long-time resident of Lewiston.
After graduating from Salem State Teacher’s College, she married Stanley Rosenblatt. She was a high school teacher until she had her first child, Alan. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to California, for two years, where while Stanley was stationed at Fort Ord, Amy was born.
After that, the family moved to Lewiston. She became very active in B’nai B’rith, rising to first vice president of its largest national district. She also wrote commercials for WKSS radio in Auburn, and was a substitute teacher at Lewiston High School.
Later in her life, she entertained audiences throughout Florida, regaling them with stories about Yiddish language and its humor.
She was a life master Bridge player, who was playing and winning tournaments until three days before her death.
She is survived by her son, Alan Rosenblatt of Arlington, Va.; her daughter, Amy Rosenblatt MacDougall, her husband, George MacDougall and granddaughter, Kierra Rynne MacDougall of Reading, Mass.
