LEWISTON – The YWCA of Central Maine will offer Aqua Yoga. The classes will be offered from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Thursdays. The classes will start on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Aqua Yoga combines the gentle qualities of yoga with the resistance, support and buoyancy of water. Each class will focus on increasing range of motion, challenging the core and breathing, while using the water as a medium to foster flexibility, balance, strength and stability.

People with a wide range of fitness levels and physical abilities can safely practice Aqua Yoga. It’s easily adaptable and ideal for any body including, but not limited to, pre- or post-natal women, people recovering from injury or surgery, seniors, those looking to lose weight and people with high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, back pain, arthritis or stress.

Classes will be taught my Tammy Begin-LeBlanc. Begin-LeBlanc is the owner of Balance Company, a private therapeutic/adaptive yoga business. For nine years, she was the owner of the former Yoga Center of Maine Inc. In addition to her local work, she teaches internationally for a yoga teacher training school. Tammy holds degrees in applied and radiological science, health science/sports medicine and is currently working toward a dual doctorate degree in natural health and naturopathy
