LEWISTON — Lawyer-turned-comedienne Karen Morgan will present a program titled “Legally Funny” at this month’s Great Falls Forum, set to take place at noon Thursday, Jan. 21, in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St.

After years as a successful trial attorney, Morgan became a full-time mother before launching her career as a comedienne and writer. She made her national television debut when she was selected as one of seven finalists from 1,000 entrants to appear on Nickelodeon’s “Search for the Funniest Mom in America.” Since then, she has appeared in theaters, at corporate events, and on radio and television nationwide.

Born in Athens, Ga., Morgan delivers her tales in a southern accent, which is somewhat of an anomaly in Maine, where she now resides. Noted for their unique outlook from the vantage point of a working parent, her presentations have been described as “comedy through the perceptive eye of a loving wife and mother, prepared with the tenacity of an attorney and tempered with a dash of southern charm.”

Morgan will take questions from the audience after her presentation. She will also have copies of her book, “You Might Be a Mama” and DVD, “Mama’s Night Out! Live!,” available for purchase and signing at the event.

Admission to the Great Falls Forum is free. Attendees are invited to bring brown bag lunches or to take advantage of the Forum’s partnership with Guthries cafe and request one of the eatery’s sandwiches or salads to be delivered to the library in advance of the talk.

Orders may be placed by calling Guthries at 376-3344. The menu is available at www.myspace.com/guthriesplace. Bottled water will be available on site at the library.

Partnering with the library as cosponsors of the Great Falls Forum series are the Sun Journal, Bates College and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. More information is available by contacting the Lewiston Public Library at 513-3135 or www.LPLonline.org.
