Althea N. Besaw
1921 – 2010
FARMINGTON — Althea N. Besaw, 88, of Farmington passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
She was born June 1, 1921, in Farmington, a daughter of Arthur W. Sr. and Minnie A. (Webber) Porter. She was educated in the schools of New Sharon and married Robert W. Besaw in 1938 in Farmington. They shared 58 years of a strong and loving marriage. He passed away in 1996. They had two daughters Beverly A. Besaw and Barbara E. Adams, both of Farmington.
She was very loving, nurturing, caring, and devoted to all children, family, and friends. Among her passions were her cooking, gardening, bird watching, crosswords, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly A. Besaw and Barbara E. Adams, both of Farmington; grandson, Gary L. Adams and his wife, Terry, of Barnstead, N.H.; granddaughters, Lisa M. Davis of Temple, Cindy E. Birmingham of Glenburn and Melissa A. Adams of Farmington; great-grandchildren, James R. Davis and wife, Amanda, of West Farmington, Jeffery J. Davis of Temple, Brittany M. Birmingham and Jonathan R. Birmingham, both of Glenburn; great-great-grandchildren, Samantha J. Davis and James Robert Davis Jr.; her sisters, Harriet Cassidy and Alethea and husband, Bill Paradis, both of Farmington; a brother, Arthur Porter “Junior” and his wife, Virginia, of New Sharon; many nieces and nephews; along with her special loyal canine companion, “Skooter.”
She was predeceased by her siblings, Keith, Arnold, Freddie, Earsel, Ina, Glenna and Lora.
